The 2012 Rafto Prize events

The 2012 Rafto Prize will be awarded to Nnimmo Bassey from Nigeria on Sunday, 4 November at the National Stage, Bergen. The Rafto Conference "Human Rights Threatened by Climate Change" will be held on Saturday, 3 November at Radisson Blu Hotel Norge in Bergen. Entrance to the conference is free, but please register first.

Nigerian Nnimmo Bassey (54) will receive the 2012 Rafto Prize for his untiring work to raise worldwide awareness of the human rights aspect of climate and environmental challenges in general and on the African continent in particular. He fights for vulnerable local communities’ rights to life, health, food and water. Nnimmo Bassey demonstrates that underprivileged groups are hit especially hard by climate change and environmental destruction.
